Welcome to Nick's Gyros, a hidden culinary gem located at 1414 N Burlington Ave in Hastings, NE. This family-owned establishment has quickly become a local favorite, renowned for its generous portions, fresh ingredients, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Stepping into Nick’s, you may be surprised to find it tucked away in a gas station, but do not let that fool you; what awaits inside is a spectacular feast for the senses.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the traditional Greek gyro, a hearty delight that leaves diners raving about its size and flavor. As Thomas, one of our loyal patrons, notes, a single gyro can easily satisfy two meals, packed with tons of meat, fresh veggies, and ample feta, all wrapped in homemade pita bread. The sheer volume of their gyros has become the stuff of local legend, and newcomers are often taken aback by just how substantial each serving is.
But Nick's Gyros offers more than just gyros. Their menu features a delightful array of choices, including grilled cheese, ham & cheese sandwiches, chicken pitas, and even a Philly steak. Each dish is crafted with high-quality ingredients, ensuring that every bite is a taste of perfection. Rob Kuefner, a first-time guest, echoed the sentiment when he sought out a value meal and left impressed—not only by the portion size but by the freshness of the veggies and the quality of the pita.
The welcoming vibe at Nick's is further enhanced by its owner, whose kindness resonates with patrons like Dave Hult. With a commitment to cleanliness and quality, this family-run eatery successfully sidesteps the pitfalls typical of larger chains. Instead, diners can enjoy a genuine and heartfelt dining experience that keeps them coming back for more.
For those craving a nostalgic taste, Reiley Haight fondly recalls his time working here and how the quality has remained consistent over the years. Even when faced with a minor hiccup on his Philly sandwich, the nostalgia and flavors of Nick’s kept him and his fiancée coming back. It's this authentic connection that elevates the dining experience beyond just a meal—it transforms it into a memory.
In a world filled with fast food, Nick's Gyros stands tall as a testament to quality, generosity, and genuine hospitality. So whether you are a local or just passing through, don't miss the chance to enjoy a hearty meal that captures the spirit of Greek cuisine with a distinctly American twist. You’ll leave with a full stomach and a happy heart, which is what great food is all about.

I come here about once every year or two and always love their food. I used to be able to slam one of these gyros but I just absolutely can't anymore. I'm pretty sure that I've slowed down a lot, or the portions have got a lot bigger. Either way, the food is still absolutely great. For I think about 12 you get a monster of a gyro with tons of meat and other toppings on it. Unlike the other location that shares a name (and that's it) in Kearney, you get a nice quality food here. You literally have to use the paper it sits on to roll it so that you can have a handheld version of the gyro and honestly I hope that it always stays like that. The owner is such a kind guy and I hope only the absolute best for him so that he stays that way, too. I was originally going to get the cheese balls as well here, but then a customer behind me ordered while I was still up there and choose mozzarella sticks, which I originally didn't see on the menu since they were kind of hiding to the right of the register. The owner switched them out for me and I'm so glad because they were some of the best mozzarella sticks that I've ever had. I couldn't finish my meal and I honestly tried my hardest because it was so good. It's one of those meals where you're like "I need to stop, but it's just so good". I didn't personally have a problem with it being greasy, but I'm sure that could be because they weren't swamped or it could have been a different cook. That's something that I've seen be the cause at different eateries.

First time to eat at this Nick's. Probably the largest Gyro I've ever had. Good value for the price, can make two meals out of it. Pita was good and veggies fresh and lots of meat. Feta and sour cream were ample.

Perfect food, family owned small business, clean and friendly plus it's cheap but not cheap quality. They use wonderful ingredients and you'll taste the difference. Skip the chain garbage and eat here!

It's in a gas station, but man oh man the gyro or meat & Cheese are loaded up and worth the price. Peta is homemade not out of a bag just awsome wirth the drive.

I worked here in highschool and the only difference was the side of the room it was on— Quality was there! Did the owner proud with these, I’m sure. However the cheese was missing on the Philly so my fiance, who I coerced into coming here, was a little disappointed - but my gyro was a blast to the past, 10 years ago I moved away and I haven’t found one that comes close. Nick’s does it best!

Not only is the food wonderful, the owner is also incredibly down to earth and you can tell he loves what he does. That alone deserves your business! One of our motorcycles died in the parking lot, and he immediately came to the rescue and jumped it with his truck. The pita bread was crisped perfectly on the outside and the meat, both the Philly steak and chicken, tasted great. Generous portions at 10-13 per Gyro. Toppings were very fresh. We're going to make it a point to drive out to Hastings more often just to eat here.

The chicken is really good, but the meat and cheese is my go to! Super full if I can finish it!! Meat is always super hot and the pita soft and so flavorful!

The gyro and Philly cheesesteak we ordered was amazing! I’ll have to revisit Hastings just for Nick’s!
